Historical panel paintings in Hajduszoboszló
The painter Gyula Medgyessy-Kovács painted a historical series of six panels of paintings -commissioned by the local government – which can be seen in Heroes’ Square in Hajdúszoboszló. The interesting thing about the masterpieces is that the artist painted them by hand on concrete slabs.
The country’s largest series of outdoor panel paintings was inaugurated on March 15, 2019. These give a taste of the history of the town Hajdú (Hungarian herdsman). The pictures depict scenes from the Hajdú-Turkish period of Hungarian history, such as the presentation of István Bocskai’s donation letter and the tradition of herding.
